home SWEET home

I'm BACK from 3 weeks of awesome good time!

some short glimpses:

Left to right: Borough Market in London selling a huge assortment of food, sunset on lovcen mountain in Kotor, Montenegro

left to right: english breakfast at ifor evans hostel, changing of guards at athens "tomb of the unknown soldier" and roses by the window sill at delphi

left to right: pretty cats in santorini, some building opposite hyde park in London, musuem at athens

left to right: View of Dubrovnik "Old Town", Easter egg in Zagreb (in front of St Marks Church), Split(Croatia)

Eastern Europe was absoultely fantastic, words can't begin to describe the tranquil, subtle beauty of the eastern europe charm. Greece and it's islands were gems in the aegean sea, Santorini was gorgeous with its white-washed houses set atop the cliff running down into the large expanse of blue water. Mykonos(the party island) was absolutely beautiful with its sandy white beaches and famous windmills. There's a huge party crowd in mykonos made up of drop-dead gorgeous greeks (both male and females alike). Honestly, greeks are one of the best looking race i've seen so far, pretty much every single person i saw there looked like a pin-up model taken straight out from the magazines. Athens was pretty for its ruins and the previous wonder of the world, the Parthenon :) but too many days spent there would be a bore unless you have an acquired taste for "look-a-like" columns...and yes, that pretty much sums up athens. lol. Montenegro(Kotor) was pretty in a subtle way, it's a small and newly developed nation and the only non-EU country using Euros. It had an old-town charm to it and living in a hostel facing the old town and the fjords didn't hurt, every day was blessed with good scenery and an incredible night view. Croatia has a mix of wonders comprising of the old town charm of dubrovnik, the raw, untouched natural beauty of Plitvice National Park and the slightly fairy-tale like cottages in Zagreb (capital of croatia).

The above video was taken at Santorini Lighthouse, we were admiring the sunset at the south side of Santorini and it was hellava freezing down there (or to be factually appropriate, up there, since it is after all, above a steep sloping cliff). We met a French couple who were sipping white wine and chewing on prunes while viewing the sunset. Awww, that French romanticism for ya....We went up to chat with them and they shared with us their wine and olives. This was definitely one of the more memorable time of the trip...the whole scenario of sipping white wine in the bitter cold while admiring the sunset in front of a lighthouse that lights every 10s is soooo, well, surreal.

Well, the second video is of Kotor, Monetenegro! By far, the best sunset i've seen on the trip. Oh heck, the best sunset i've seen in my life! Except, u don't really see the sun going below the horizon cause we are basically in the fjords surrounded by mountainous areas which blocked out whatever view of the sun we had. But it was not so much the setting of the sun which stunned me, it was the brilliance of colours in the sky which caused my heart to momentarily stop and my breathe to cease. How great would it be to live in this brilliant "painting" for a lifetime?

The third video is of Plitvice National Parks and its amazing number of lakes, a totoal of 12 spanning the stretch of 8 km. Plitvice National Park was a refreshing stop amidst the hustle and bustle of the urbanized towns we visited. Quiet and serene. The air was fresh and the lakes were crystal clear, ranging from azure blue to green.

MORE TO COME, STAY TUNED!!
