School of Theology 2010

congrats to the graduating batch of 640 students!

And more importantly, congrats to Charmaine, Liu Peng, Mei Qi, Shawn, Alvin, Michelle, Yuan Tai, Nicole, Erika, Seow Shi, Michael...hmm, just naming all whom i know are in the graduating batch this year, if i missed out anyone, it's not on purpose...lol, congrats everyone! it's surely been a good 5 months, experiencing God and growing to yet another level of spiritual realm!

arhh, i wana join SOT too. not just because it looks wayy too fun but more importantly, i want to discipline myself in the reading of God's word and i want to really know more about God and experience His glorious presence once again. I feel like it would be a chance for me to grow myself as a Christian...i've been in church for close to 7 years now and i feel that it's time to stop being stagnant in my growth as a disciple and a servant to my Lord Jesus Christ. I wana grow to greater heights in the spiritual realm!

Give me a sign Lord!

celebrating our zone supervisor & my ex cgl, Boon Kiat's birthday!

On a side note, i've started serving at FirstHand Ministry and you know, for now, i truly feel at home in this ministry because i feel it is where i can contribute back to people. it's where i can practise God's saying of

"loving people fervently, loving God wholeheartedly"

I used to be in the usher ministry but i guess i never felt a sense of satisfaction from it as much i do serving the terminally ill in Firsthand. Maybe it is truly God's calling :) But for now, i am happy that i've found a ministry that i feel i can grow, serve and make an impact on people's lives. And where i can learn so much more from the different stories i hear from the bearers... it really is truly enriching and inspiring. sometimes morbid, sometimes touching...

SUNSET GRILL & BAR

today we braved the notoriously ulu roads to seletar airbase camp for a taste of the equally notorious spicy buffalo wings.

and boy, did we taste one heck of a spicy wing wings.

LEVEL 25.

and we've got a cert to prove it.

my stomach still hurts from the chilli.

be warned, it is not for the faint-hearted.

i ate 4 wings (level 25) and my tummy feels like its in flames (and this is speaking 4 hours after).

it's not so much the spiciness, it's the amount of pain you're put thru' having to eat it.

and so our adventure begins...

Spicy Buffalo Wings (level 2)

and they're not even that good...the only reason why a huge throng of people flood this place every night is because they wana challenge themselves to see if they can take spiciness at a whole new level (unfortunately not very tasty at all).

level 25 wings.

lethal kill.

even the smell was horribly spicy.

the only saving grace was the deep fried mushrooms.

but then it's too early to judge considering all we had was the wings and mushrooms.

lol.

behind that smile is a litre of tears...

our hard-earned certs :(

Kota Kinabalu :)

for the long national day weekend!

my fave uni peeps

searching hi and low for places to eat...

while i slack...haha.

finally...lunch time, mee goreng :)

kota kinabalu located in sabah is really a small town with little more than 4 shopping complexes. if you are adventurous, i definitely recommend hiking up Mt Kinabalu. It is kind of pricey at abt 1200+ RM but it lasts 2 days 1 night with accomodation and guide paid for. the view from above is also spectacular and worth the money.

however being completely broke now...

we didn't climb the mountain...

instead, the highliht of the trip was white water rafting along Padas River.

it's a river with 2-4 level white rapids, with level 4 being the fierciest rapids.

head hunter, washing machine, cobra are just some of the names of level 3-4 rapids.

the entire whole white water raft tour lasted from 8am - 8pm at night (inclusive of lunch and transport).

it was really fun and the fear that the white water raft might overturn at the rapids made it that much more exciting.

luckily, we had 2 strong paddlers in front, Wp and a Hong Kong-er called Pong who does leisure dragon boating. the front men have the toughest job as they have to keep paddling, especially in the rapids as the moment you stop, the rapids would surely take you in. but boy, was it fun. and as usual, the angmohs were the first to dive in for a swim in the river. the rest slowly joined in :)

the river is brown in colour btw, mud water. it's not as dirty as it looks though, but beware of crocs which are said to lurk the river.

Island of Mamutek

headed down by speedboat for some snorkelling.

as we approached the island, i could tell the sea was really green and beautiful...snorkelling would surely be good here.

however, not knowing how unlucky i can get...

we played monopoly deal and slacked on the beach for about 2 hours and by the time we went into the sea...

we were "pleasantly" greeted with the coast guard putting up a sign "NO SWIMMING OR DIVING DURING LOW TIDES"

wth. i nearly killed myself.

my highly anticipated snorkelling went down the dumpster and i was even more heartbroken when we saw nemos and beautiful fishes swimming in the sea!!!
