EY DND 2012

this year...the theme was Sports!

and as usually, being the rebellious (actually more like lazy) employee...our table consisting of the likes of Wei Lin, Vicks, Cheryl, Choo, Serena, Hong Jing decided to boycott the whole theme.

>.<

and so we found our own theme...

sports glamour!

hurhur.

with my new cubicle buddy, Wan Ting. very bubbly and chatty gal :)

a joy to work with!

always entertaining me with her crazy dramatic actions.

nicest buddy ever.

it's been a good 3.5 years since we started work at EY. and we've all grown along the way. It's not everywhere that you get wonderful colleagues who you can call your personal friends. And HJ has definitely been one of the rare few.

will surely miss the people back at EY once i end my part time stint.

but you know... i believe i have worked hard for the past 3.5years and now has come the season for change. i know it is a HUGE risk to take but i believe that i won't come out of this regretting my choice because all i want is the chance to try what i have always desired for the longest time.

our table! as you can see...all decked out in formal wear. lol.

camwhoring in the toilet happens to be our have past time :p

love this 2 people the most in EY. they are the people i hang out the most with.

Wei Lin, the ever caring friend and Vicki, the ever helpful and smart pal.

with woon ee & marilyn. from group C.

whee! tax B champions!

with batch mates. Xiu Mei, Hazel & Stella.

will miss all of them. esp. Hazel dearie! she's a very caring and funny gal! though i can never stand it when she always calls me "SAI" ("shit" in chinese)

the best DND performance in years!!

alvin, wang cher (mummy) & severaj (daddy).

haha, if you were wondering, no they aren't exactly married or are they parents to Alvin.

it's just something Alvin always calls them...when they aren't within earshot that is. haha.

shu min, the quirky and extremely dramatic junior at work.

ruo wei (the gentle soul), Stella (the hottie) and Gareth (the uncle).

all together now. with the introduction of Suan See, a new senior manager in the firm.

the sexy, going-to-be half naked boys. hahaha.

it was the first time ever that someone ever dared to strip to nothing but swimming trunks on stage! i really gotta applaud these bunch guys. haha.

standing ovation. seriously.

in normal tradition, the freshie performances are only watched by the respective departments. For example, the audit team only bothers looking/supporting their juniors and would completely ignore the other performances, choosing instead to wander about taking photos and chatting within themselves.

However, our tax juniors really did us proud this time round! the entire hall was absolutely captivated by their performance. and i dare say the half naked boys deserve a substantial credit. special mention to Zheng Liang, the only guy who stripped to his swimming trunks.

with bee, my fave audit colleague!

with Lina, my ex-project mate!

death stare. with samuel.

and introducing the Tax B hunks. haha.

buddy, Zheng Liang and Dave! the hunks of tax B! pity my eyes are closed in the pic. haha.

Have not been listening to good music for ages other than the mainstream youtube artists.

So here goes a list of lesser known good songs/artists that i've been "digging" these days:-

Sungha Jung - Payphone

He is one word... A musical genius. Okay. that was two.

but you get the point.

Mindy Gledhill - All the Pennies

He is We - All about us

Skylar Grey - Love the way you lie/ I need a Doctor

bangkok with dear

went for a short break to Bangkok from 18 July to 22 July.

we stayed at this absolutely gorgeous boutique hotel called Siam@Siam Design Hotel & Spa

Details are as follows:-

Siam@Siam Design Hotel & Spa
865 Rama 1 Road, Opposite National Stadium, Wang Mai, Patumwan
Bangkok,  10330
Thailand
Tel: 66-2-2173000
Fax: 66-2-2173030-31
We'd made a booking direct from the hotel website and it cost approximately 150SGD per night. But it was completely worth it. so comfy and the location was v good too. near to Siam Paragon and yet not too near such there's noise pollution from the nearby shopping malls and street side stores.

There was live music every night at the hotel bar too. and mind you, it was Thai songs! the bands actually sang to the tunes of Jason Mraz, Maroon 5, Bruno Mars, Norah Jones, Michael Buble, etc. etc.
it was all good entertainment.

there was even a rooftop bar with a gorgeous city view from the top. unfortunately the rooftop bar is only open in the night.

we headed down to the tailors to get some proper suits for the bf.
Pinky tailors were absolutely professional though a tad overpriced (in my opinion). But if you're looking for quality and accuracy of measurements, Pinky Tailors is the place to go. Many tailors head down to the store to tailor their suits. So much so that the store doesn't do personal tailoring sessions at hotels.

hehe. and of course, Bangkok wouldn't be complete without a trip to Platinum Fashion Mall would it? ;)

the weird "do not" signs we saw on the cab. lol.

Krua Apsorn - Tripadvisor recommended this culinary gem well off the beaten tourist path, which serves excellent traditional thai food :)

We went to the branch along Din Sor Road, near the Cityhall.

Krua Apsorn is immensely popular with local diners due to its authentic, traditional Thai dishes.  The place is mostly packed during weekday lunch hours, whereby reservations are recommended.  The term ‘Krua Apsorn’ translates to ‘Kitchen of the Angels’ in Thai, a deserving name considering the restaurant’s superb, spicy Thai cuisine.

One of the restaurant’s featured dishes which we tried is the ‘Nua Poo Pad Prik Lueng’ (เนื้อปูผัดพริกเหลือง,Baht 350). It consists of large chunks of soft, tender crab meat stir-fried with strips of fresh, aromatic Thai yellow peppers.  This dish is considerably hot, yet pleasantly aromatic.

My favorite dish in the restaurant has got to be ‘Khai Fuu Puu’ (ไข่ฟูปู), a thick omelette laden in the interior with plenty of crab meat (Baht 85), which is great when garnished with the Thai Sri Racha hot sauce.

Another recommended favorite at Krua Apsorn is the whole deep-fried sea bass, topped with a special aromatic garlic chili sauce featuring chunks of garlic, fish sauce, and fresh green and red chilies (ปลากระพงทอดราดน้ำปลาพริกสด, Baht 300-350).

after dinner at Krua Apsorn, we decided to walk off the calories by taking a stroll at near the Grand Palace...well, i think it's the Grand Palace.

we also went to check out Calypso, the ladyman show. It was quite bad. There was a scene where one of the ladyman pulled down her bra to show off her twin peaks. it was horrifying to say the least.

i think there were kids watching the show >.<

dear was so bored by the show. he fell asleep. -_-"

we made a half day trip down to the Damnoen Saduak floating market on the third day. it was pretty interesting considering it's been a long while since i last went to a floating market. The actual market was nothing impressive. The canals leading to the market was an attraction in itself. It was amazing to see how elaborate the canal system was built to support a population of villagers and to see how people live along these canals.

and just more views of the lovely hotel :)

we chanced upon this fantastic ramen store called "Chabuton Ramen" along Siam Square Soi 3 Rama 1 Road

the ramen served was absolutely the best i have ever tasted. the soup was just soooo good. i'm drooling just thinking of it.

it was so good, we ate it twice during our trip!
