decisions, decisions, decisions...
i hate having to make a choice...
you know how it gets when you are in a dilemma...
there's that nagging voices in your head going on and on in two contradictory perspectives...
"you should do it, if you don't, you will surely regret"
"but if you don't do it, you'll have more time/money...you sure you're ready to give it all up?"
"follow your heart, if you never give it up, how would you know whether you might be better off?"
it is mad annoying.
and being the typical undecisive person...
it sure has been a challenge...
1) Money or Passion?
currently still in a dilemma over this. i've recently gotten a job offer at a luxury fashion brand house...intro-ed by a friend...but i would most definitely have to take a huge paycut and sacrifice the kind of stable 8.30am-5.30pm kinda job that i have now.
am i ready for it?
if i don't try this now, i will never ever get the chance or be willing to sacrifice a higher pay for my passion.
2) Blogshop or not?
been wanting to set up a blogshop for the loooonnngest time. and recently after seeing the success of so many blogshops and reading BC's owners' blogs, i feel so revved up to start one.
and this time round, have decided to collaborate with vicks on this. i hope i actually get off my butt to do it. been researching and doing some background work on it... so hopefully this materialises!
3) Maldives or leave & money?
2 nights free accomodation at sheraton hotel in maldives & 500bucks air fare tics...
should i goooo??????
but i don't have sufficient leave/money....
but it surely is tempting.
4) Daehan Education Centre to learn korean or not?
actually this is no longer a dilemma. i've decided to sign up. i am not letting my prior korean studies go to waste. 안국어르 here i come!!!

FIRSTHAND MINISTRY!!
HOME TEAM & WARD TEAM.
i've joined this ministry for a short 2 months and i think the few times i went down to cdc, i really felt that little sense of gratification from the little things that the patients do/say and i look forward to serving more in this area.
it may not be as glamorous as chc choir/children's church/drama team but as giselle said and i couldn't agree more is that the people who serve in firsthand want to impact lives by giving back to the community, to give comfort to people who most need it, to show support to those who may be ostracized from society. of course that is not to say that the other ministries are not meaningful. some people join ministries so that they can contribute what they are best at. for me, it would have been a most natural choice to choose choir as i love singing and music to me is life. and i believe that is something which i am good at and choir would be where i can contribute the best of my abilities. but at this point in time, for me, i want to learn how to care for others, i want to do something where i can touch lives in a more personal way. I may not be the best at providing care/support but i want to learn.
and that is why i joined this ministry...
and it cetainly has been a good few weeks of memorable instances...
instance #1:
on the very first ward visitation, i met this old man and we started talking to him, asking him simple conversational questions while Song gave him a foot massage after convincing him that the oilment was not the "hot" type. we could tell that he was glad that he had someone to simply talk to and he was very appreciative of us. by the time it was time for us to go, he said in chinese,
"thank you very much for volunteering, you all are good people"
it was a simple sentence of gratitude but i already felt uplifted.
instance #2:
i met Mr K who was a bearer and has been in the ward for a good 1+ months. he shared with us his life, his family, what he does in his free time and because sometimes he gets bored being coped up alone in his ward, he often goes over to the other wards to talk to the other patients. he is a friendly man who unfortunately has a growth on his lungs...the doctor said he only has 50% chances of success if he goes for op...sometimes you hear things like that, and you don't know what else to say because if you place yourself in his position...what would it feel like to know that you only have 50% chance of survival...i wouldn't...
sometimes he would share with us how the doctors constantly have to draw blood to check on their healths and according to him, they draw blood everyday, sometimes up to 3 bottles. as a result, he needs blood tranfusion cause of low blood count.
and so the first time we paid a visit to him, we had a good talk together with another patient. the next time i returned, which was a good 2 weeks later, he still remembered me :) i was very happy and contented because it is always nice to know that people remember the little things that you do for them.
instance #3:
there is this old patient who is half paralysed and has been in the hospital for months. some of the volunteers wanted to read him bible versus as he is also a christian. however this patient did not look too interested at the start. Jack, a volunteer, then came up with the brilliant plan to act out the bible story and hence they put up a mini "adam & eve" drama. the patient was rather entertained by our hilarious gimmicks.
DINNER WITH AA306 PEEPS
love them.
and we learnt something shocking that day...
lol.
apparantly one of them recently started dating the bro of another.
what a small world.

School of Theology 2010
congrats to the graduating batch of 640 students!
And more importantly, congrats to Charmaine, Liu Peng, Mei Qi, Shawn, Alvin, Michelle, Yuan Tai, Nicole, Erika, Seow Shi, Michael...hmm, just naming all whom i know are in the graduating batch this year, if i missed out anyone, it's not on purpose...lol, congrats everyone! it's surely been a good 5 months, experiencing God and growing to yet another level of spiritual realm!
arhh, i wana join SOT too. not just because it looks wayy too fun but more importantly, i want to discipline myself in the reading of God's word and i want to really know more about God and experience His glorious presence once again. I feel like it would be a chance for me to grow myself as a Christian...i've been in church for close to 7 years now and i feel that it's time to stop being stagnant in my growth as a disciple and a servant to my Lord Jesus Christ. I wana grow to greater heights in the spiritual realm!
Give me a sign Lord!
celebrating our zone supervisor & my ex cgl, Boon Kiat's birthday!
On a side note, i've started serving at FirstHand Ministry and you know, for now, i truly feel at home in this ministry because i feel it is where i can contribute back to people. it's where i can practise God's saying of
"loving people fervently, loving God wholeheartedly"

SUNSET GRILL & BAR
today we braved the notoriously ulu roads to seletar airbase camp for a taste of the equally notorious spicy buffalo wings.
and boy, did we taste one heck of a spicy wing wings.
LEVEL 25.
and we've got a cert to prove it.
my stomach still hurts from the chilli.
be warned, it is not for the faint-hearted.
i ate 4 wings (level 25) and my tummy feels like its in flames (and this is speaking 4 hours after).
it's not so much the spiciness, it's the amount of pain you're put thru' having to eat it.
and so our adventure begins...
Spicy Buffalo Wings (level 2)
and they're not even that good...the only reason why a huge throng of people flood this place every night is because they wana challenge themselves to see if they can take spiciness at a whole new level (unfortunately not very tasty at all).
level 25 wings.
lethal kill.
even the smell was horribly spicy.
the only saving grace was the deep fried mushrooms.
but then it's too early to judge considering all we had was the wings and mushrooms.
lol.
behind that smile is a litre of tears...
our hard-earned certs :(
