My first attempt at OREO CHEESECAKE!! (yes, jie shan, haha, i know this entry is super overdue but i just hadn't gotten off my lazy butt to work on the entry)
The final product!! Our yummilicious fruity (in this case, very very fruity and peachy) oreo cheesecake, which was abit lacking in cheese :S
first step: Mash the digestive biscuits (we broke 15 pieces, super kiasu!) and add in the creamy butter! Then just mix! Press the crumbs mixture into a aluminium container and you have your cheesecake base!
second step: Add in 2 teaspoons of lemon to 280mg of Philadelphia Cheese (or orange, which my colleague later tried and shared with us, it tasted really good, even better than lemon actually) Did we add sugar as well? I think we did, about 2 tablespoons?? And, of course, mix it again!! Jess did such a good job at mixing it, it looked incredibly smooth and positively delectable!
Yeah! We're happy and satisfied by Jessie's mixing! Not bad! Cheez for the camera!
Now for the not so fun part....GELATINE, grr, smelled bad, burnt the gelatine at the first try, didn't know how much water to add...and is gelatine supposed to be a dirty yellow in colour??? I almost thought we would positively die of food poisoning if we added it in...
Jess, the chef, hard at work while Me and Jie Shan worked at the oreos and pinched a few pieces for ourselves....too tempting lar.
3rd step: Break about 9 pieces of oreo cookies (each cookie into 4 pieces) and stir it with the bowl of cheese, careful not to break the oreos though! And on a personal note, 9 was a bit too much, after we tried the cheesecake the next day, i can tell you with all conviction that 9 cookies in 250mg of cheese = eating oreo biscuits smeared with cheese dressing. Machiam eating oreo, cheese biscuits...
And i have to explain why we only added 250mg of cheese, i am a health freak and when i was shopping for the cheese, i saw to my delight: PHILADELPHIA 80% LESS FAT CREAM CHEESE (!!) and so i just took it without thinking to check the quantity...only later did i realise i was 30mg short of cheese -_-" Oh well, credits to me, we had a errr....healthier cheesecake?? Maybe i helped save us 150kcal from the 1000000kcals we consumed the next day when we finally got to eat our creation.
4th step: Boil 2 teaspoons of gelatine with a small quantity of water (not sure how much though cause the recipe, or protocol as Jess likes to call it, didn't state clearly). Don't boil too long though, u don't wanna end up with chow ta gelatine. After which add the gelatine in the cheese mix and stir well. And then pour the cheese mix into the container with the crumbs base.
Aiyo, look at the 2 girls, snacking away instead of focussing on the job at task. Not like me, so hard-working, hurhur.
STILL SNACKING!! While reading the recipe somemore! Haha.
Yay!! We're finally done! We filled the top with half peaches and nata de coco! And now, we just hafta chill it in the freezer!
I have yet to upload the pictures we took the next day though....paiseh. But Jess drew an adorable kungfu panda on the box that she bought to contain the cake! I must upload to show you all soon!
