i found a school which has a flexible part-time course for interior design - Palin School of Arts & Design, I can learn at my own pace and i just have to accumulate 12 credit points to obtain the Plain's Diploma in Interior Design. Each module is about 2 credit points and i have to take two compulsory modules - 1) Residential Interior Design 2) Commercial Interior Design, each costing about 500+bucks....estimated total cost of diploma is about 3000+ bucks....geez...
i'm tempted to enrol for the june intake and study while i'm doing PA...hmm, i don't even know what i'm doing, at first it was just a thought but now, i don't know...it'd be such a weird thing huh? trying for a diploma in interior design while studying accounting? sounds a bit off i know...but what Bro Kel told me today about the auditor's job and lifestyle has really got me thinking, it seems to me that auditors really have no social life during their peak hours, Bro Kel said they are practically "dogs" slaving for the Big 4. Some of his colleagues work till 4am in the morning to go through stacks and stacks of documents, scanning A3 papers clipped together with font size 8 words(!!!!) and he said he had to do OT on the second day of work already!! What's the point of earning big bucks when there's nothing for you to spend on except lunch, taxi fares to and from work(which they can claim from the company eventually) and probably nice handphone and nice working clothes?? I don't want to live my life just for work, i don't want to wake up each morning dreading another long, tedious day of work and knowing i'll be doing the same thing over and over again every year....and even if i could take a long holiday during non-peak season, who am i to spend it with when my other friends are working??? Bro Kel said most of his friends moved on to other careers in a matter of months, he himself is in business consulting and at least, he's liking his job now.
But I guess different people have varying opinions about auditing and in a days time, i'll get to experience what audit work is like at my PA firm, then i'll know for sure if i like it or not. i don't want to be so pessimistic about it before even trying, so i must keep my hopes up and hope i learn plenty during this internship. Being judgemental and critical so soon will do me no good. I should be bold and open to what's in store for me.
"Lord, i pray that you'll guide me along this period of internship and help me learn new stuff from the seniors there. I pray that i'll make less mistakes and most importantly, i pray for strength, courage and for stronger faith so that i will persevere no matter what. That i will not give up and i will press on with the undying thirst for knowledge and strength knowing that i have You on my side. Amen."
Btw, i went for a Montage 2008, a photography seminar organised by NUS photographic society today and it was alright, i was looking forward to the fashion photography section but i think i was more inspired and captivated by the wedding photos cause they evoked more emotions and were less staged. The wedding shots were also very well taken, so much so that i couldn't believe that it wasn't the work of photoshop :S Fashion photography seemed more "plastic", i guess cause in the end, fashion photography is more about the clothes than the person. Speaking about fashion photography, lolx, i must say comment about the speaker, see the guy below:
Skye Tan - fashion photographer
Looks kinda cool right? PHOTOS ARE DECEIVING!! OMG, when i saw him in REAL person, he looked a tad nerdish even with his efforts at dressing abit more stylish (his pants were a bit too tight, it was tugging his thigh fats at all the wrong areas, lolx) and he spoke Singlish lah(i'm not a fashion photographer so i'm allowed to say all the LAs and LORs i want))!! *faints* I was expecting a bit of "seh" you know, maybe a bit of american accent(be it real or fake), i guess i was expecting him to act like Nigel Barker (the hot fashion photographer from ANTM) --> probably too high expectations but please lar, anybody called "Skye' shouldn't be talking like a coffee shop boy -_-" Okay, i'll give him some credit, at least he was quite entertaining...especially when he said that the male models he took were all a picture of cool and they were practically a mirror image of himself...haha.
...and i don't even think it was a joke.
